Before men, and the idea of paper, way before the idea of sacred scriptures and lecture of knowledge, there were this stories... stories of the world and the gods. But, is it literature?
So, there was this old man. This very old man, who woke up every morning with the rising sun. He gave his thanks to the gods and prepare for his job; the spiritual world.
This man possessed the knowledge that needed to pass from generation to generation.
He decides that it is best told to the young ones, this knowledge that needed to be preserved.
An then, one day, this strange, pale-looking man arrived to their land, killing, converting and teaching in strange tongues he could not understand.
More and more followed him, all for different purposes. And some of them, the not-so-evil ones, came to hear, to listen to the wind and the gods; to hear the stories of ancient of old.
Will it count then, than an oral tradition be considered literature?
The real question, what is literature?
And then, is the story of the universe be counted as literature?
